The Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair in 2024

Vacuuming requires time and effort. Just the word “vacuum” makes me want to just stay in bed, hide under covers and get sucked in (pun intended) instead of doing this tedious chore.

But we all know, if you have furry friends living with you, this is unacceptable – unless you don’t mind all the hair everywhere that cause random fits of sneezes or that stray pet hair on your super black coat.

Let’s face the facts – when you have an eight to five, take care of a house, a partner, and pets, sometimes, you just don’t have the strength to do everything – yes, especially something as time-consuming as vacuuming.

So, who (or what) do we call on for help? 1, 2, 3, technology! If you simply do not have time to vacuum, but cannot forego the cleaning quality it delivers, here are my top-rated robot vacuums that will surely vacuum your worries the robotic way!

1. iRobot Roomba 980

iRobot Roomba 980 Wi-Fi Connected Vacuuming Robot

The Roomba 980 comes in blazing hot with its rubber carpet agitator that guarantees no dust, pet hair, or any other kind of debris can escape it.

Most robot vacuums have the problem that they are not heavy or strong enough to get the job done, but this is not the case with the Roomba 980.

It zips through any kind of surface easily, never gets stuck, and detects dirty spots with its Dirt Detect System.

Another plus for the Roomba 980 is its companion mobile app. This app has a navigable interface with useful menu options. One distinct feature is a giant ‘Clean’ button in the middle of the screen. If the dustbin requires cleaning, a red marker will appear to let you know. It also shows when it’s time for bot maintenance. It can also manage your cleaning preferences, cleaning schedule and history.

This robot vacuum is fairly quiet on hard flooring but can get noisy on carpets. To make up for it, though, it doesn’t stop at every obstacle it encounters, unlike its other counterparts that need frequent human interception. You can leave this baby alone without worrying. It is best to just stay in another room if you find it too loud.

For its post-usage care, I find the dustbin a little difficult to empty as well especially when it is filled to the brim with dirt. But once you get that done, the rest of unit cleaning should be a breeze.

  • Can be controlled and scheduled via an app.
  • Learns the layout of your home.
  • 2 hour battery life.
  • High-end navigation & charges itself.
  • Has HEPA filters

  • It can be a little loud.
  • High price due to premium quality.

2. Neato Robotics Botvac Connected

Neato Botvac Connected Wi-Fi Enabled Robot Vacuum, Compatible with Alexa

The Neato Robotics Botvac Connected definitely lives up to its name – it works Neato-ly!

With the combined cleaning power of suction and brush power, the Botvac is clearly in the business of optimal cleaning.

It has two kinds of brush bar – a spiral rubbery blade and a combo brush with tough bristles meant to tackle pet hair.

There’s also another sidekick spinning brush that pushes the debris towards the big brush. In addition, its D shape makes it possible to fit into the corners.

Just like the iRobot Roomba 980, it also comes with an app.

Something that makes the Botvac special is its manual control – yes, you heard that right; it has manual control. On the app, you will see cleaning options and all you have to do is select ‘Manual’, and take your pick from a bunch of directional buttons that pop up. I appreciate this option particularly when there’s a specific spot I want to be cleaned.

After spending some more time with this baby, I noticed how it navigates with such cautiousness. This is made possible through its mapping capabilities. However, in some instances, it can be a little intrusive as it has the tendency to approach obstacles, rear them up as if trying to clear them.

Nonetheless, I can still say that its navigation system is intelligent and systematic. You might also want to warn the children in your home before vacuuming as it makes weird, gravelly sounds on some surfaces.

  • It has good battery life.
  • It has manual controls.
  • It has powerful suction accompanied by brush power.
  • It has an app that enables you to use it with ease.

  • It makes weird sounds on certain surfaces.
  • It does not work as well on thicker carpets.

3. Samsung Powerbot R7065

Samsung POWERbot R7065 Robot Vacuum Wi-Fi Connectivity, Ideal for Carpets, Hard Floors, and Pet Hair with 5160Pa Strong Performance, Works with Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant

Check Today's Price

The Samsung Powerbot R7065packs strong punches starting off with the 11.4-inch brush system that makes it less likely to leave behind dirt and debris.

Robot vacuums work like magic if you only have hard or bare flooring at home, but plush carpeting is an entirely different story; this is where most robot vacuums fall short.

But not with the Powerbot R7065 – it removes more dirt in one go than most robot vacuums, because of its extra-long 11.4-inch brush.

Another strong punch the R7065 throws is its 20 watts’ worth of cyclonic suction technology which ensures its unwavering suction power.

Upon entry of dirt into the Powerbot’s inlet, larger debris goes straight into a separate chamber, guaranteeing uninterrupted airflow. If you are looking to vacuum thoroughly which would require extended hours, this may not be the one for you as it has rather skimpy battery life.

An additional punch thrown in is the model’s smart maneuverability. With an array of nine sensors and a digital camera to boot, the R7065 is able to figure out the room’s arrangement, efficiently cleaning it in the process.

Just like the previously mentioned robot vacuums, the Powerbot also has an app that helps control and guides the cleaner.

  • It has nine sensors.
  • It has a digital camera.
  • It operates with an 11.4-inch brush system and cyclonic suction technology.

  • It has a skimpy battery life.
  • It is a little bulkier than other robot vacuums.

4. iRobot Roomba 690

iRobot Roomba 690 Robot Vacuum-Wi-Fi Connectivity, Works with Alexa, Good for Pet Hair, Carpets, Hard Floors, Self-Charging

Check Today's Price

The iRobot Roomba 690 is the cheaper brother of the 980. Just like the 980, it also has the same user-friendly app that schedules cleanings.

However, because of its more affordable price, a few downgrades were called for. The Roomba 690 suction technology is called AeroVac against the Roomba 980’s AeroForce – which makes the Roomba 690 automatically quieter.

The Roomba 980 is known for its rubber carpet agitator, whereas this model has an ordinary, but still effective carpet brush.

I find these changes acceptable as the Roomba 690 is significantly cheaper than the Roomba 980.

With the iRobot Roomba 690, you get what you pay for. It picks up a lot of hair, be it the human’s or the pet’s, dirt, and dust. However, I noticed it had a hard time going over rugs. It also has a tendency to push objects around. On occasion, it also had difficulty find its charging dock.

  • It comes with a user-friendly app.
  • You get what you pay for.
  • It is quiet.

  • It would have a hard time returning to its charging dock.

5. Ecovacs Deebot M81 Pro

ECOVACS DEEBOT M81Pro Robotic Vacuum Cleaner with Strong Suction, for Pet Hair, Low-pile Carpet, Bare Floors, Wifi Connected, Compatible with Alexa

Check Today's Price

The Ecovacs Deebot D M81 Pro was pretty easy to figure out. With a built-in WiFi system to easily connect with the ECOVACS app, controlling the device is easy-peasy.

However, this model has no floor mapping feature due to the absence of an ultrasonic sensor.

The Ecovacs Deebot M81 Pro is the first robot vacuum I’ve seen with a wet mop feature. I have to say that this feature is so useful, especially for liquid spills.

It has a small water reservoir, dispensing water with the mopping cloth, all while vacuuming. Pretty neat, right? This cleaning combination guarantees that those pesky pet hairs will be picked up.

I was also impressed because the M81 Pro was able to last three hours with continuous cleaning. However, if the device wanders too far away from the charging pod, you may need to manually bring it back.

  • It has a wet mopping feature.
  • Its app is simple and easy to use.
  • It has great battery life.

  • It has no ultrasonic sensor for a more effective floor mapping.

6. Eufy Robovac 11+

[BoostIQ] eufy RoboVac 11+ (2nd Gen: Upgraded Bumper and Suction Inlet) High Suction, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Filter for Pet Fur, Cleans Hard Floors to Medium-Pile Carpets

Check Today's Price

If you’re looking for a good beginner robot vacuum, the Eufy Robovac 11+ is the one for you.

But just to set your expectations straight, this is unlike the other sophisticated robot vacuums that can do complicated floor mappings.

Be that as it may, it is still reliable and gets the job done.

The Eufy Robovac 11+ may not come with any WiFi capability or an app, but it’s easy to schedule cleanings and set different cleaning modes using the remote.

If you live in a place with mostly hardwood floors, with small furry friends, or just do light maintenance cleaning in general, this model is definitely for you. With its reliable cleaning ability, size, and quietness, the Robovac 11+ will work like a dream for you.

  • Comes with a variety of cleaning attachments
  • Lightweight and easy to control
  • Peerless sucking power
  • Traps allergy-causing elements perfectly
  • Highly ergonomic features and capabilities

  • Noisy when operating
  • Some parts, especially the pedal, feel flimsy

The Roomba 980 i model’s band of brushes, together with its powerful suction power gave me that level of cleanliness I demand from my tried and tested vacuums.

With iRobot’s top vacuum, you are given the comfort of knowing your home is thoroughly cleaned even when you are not around. With three brushes installed in the unit, you are sure that all the dirt in your house is swept and sucked in through its powerful technology.

I like how cautious it goes around the house and does not push things out of their place that much. Since I do not have a lot of rugs or carpets at home, this model works perfectly. I think the bit of noise is a small price to pay for the cleaning quality it gives. I mean, all I have to do is just wait for it to finish, who am I to complain how it gets it done, right? A normal pet hair vacuum is louder, anyway.

For someone like me who’s always on-the-go, knowing that my house is maintained even when I don’t have much time to do it myself is truly a luxury.

Choosing the Right Robot

Think carefully about the following details (or you know if you really need one). We don’t want you buying a model that is not best suited for you.

Your Pocket

Convenience comes with a price. As you know the price tags on robot vacuums are not a joke. Before you buy, decide how much you are willing to shell out for cleaning cyborgs.

Your Abode

After you decide how much you’re willing to spend, you have to survey your home. Do you have plenty of carpets or rugs? Or are your ground surfaces mostly hardwood? This is important because as high-tech as these robot vacuums are, they still have limitations. Some may be good on hardwood floors but struggle on carpets.

You also have to consider the size of your house as this determines how long it will take for the robot vacuum to take on your house. This will dictate the kind of battery life you need in your unit.

Your Cleaning Needs

Robot vacuums are not perfect. They can be good at doing one thing, but not in another. Some may be good at picking up bigger debris, but not in picking up itty-bitty ones. So you have to know the mess you’re dealing with.

Your Control

Most robot vacuums come with an app, can be controlled with WiFi, or even with the good ole remote control. It is up to you to take your pick as robot vacuums aim to help you clean, without you actually doing it. The ability to control it without having to be near it is definitely a big plus; what’s better is you can actually choose how.
